CIT prioritizes safe environments for children by equipping communities, caregivers, and local authorities to prevent and respond to abuse. More than 500,000 children and youth have been educated on child protection, while more than 200,000 caregivers receive ongoing training to create nurturing homes. In FY24 alone, 15,000 stakeholders—including community leaders, social workers, and law enforcement—were trained to strengthen systems such as Village Child Protection Committees and District Social Welfare Offices, resulting in improved reporting and timely referrals. CIT also provides psychosocial support, mentorship, and counseling through community and facility-based programs, reinforcing resilience and recovery. These initiatives align with Tanzania’s National Child Protection Framework and Child Rights Act, with approximately USD 894,000 invested in child protection programming over the past two years.
